This partnership follows Lithuania’s decision in June 2025 to select the C-390 Millennium military transport aircraft, a decision that recently saw a delegation from Embraer visit Lithuania to meet with local industrial partners and visit several facilities offering expertise spanning key areas, including: maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO); engineering, innovation, and technological development; and supply chain management.
Bosco da Costa Junior,
Embraer Defence and Security’s president and CEO, said: “We have met with several Lithuanian industrial organisations and have observed their expertise and capabilities. We will contribute to Lithuania’s defence capabilities with the C-390 Millennium aircraft and support the country’s industrial and technological development.
“Since the early 2000s, Embraer Defence and Security has steadily increased its presence in Europe through strategic investments in defence companies, the establishment of industrial facilities, and the expansion of our supplier network. Indeed, over 40% of the C-390’s supply chain is sourced from European partners; and recently, Embraer launched several key industrial cooperation projects with Portugal, the Netherlands, Austria, the Czech Republic, and Sweden.”
Ongoing commitment to collaborationHe continued: “Establishing Embraer Defence Europe, with headquarters in Portugal’s capital, Lisbon, further demonstrates the company’s ongoing commitment to collaboration with the European Union and NATO. This includes plans to establish C-390 training centres and deepen relationships with defence institutions throughout the region.”
He added that discussions regarding industrial cooperation between Lithuania and Embraer reflect the strategic objectives outlined by Lithuania’s Ministry of Defence and its Ministry of Economy and Innovation, which are aiming to build ‘a resilient and future-ready defence industrial base as well as cooperation with educational and research institutions’.
“Lithuania’s selection of the C-390 Millennium aligns with a growing number of European and NATO allies including Portugal, Slovakia, Hungary, the Netherlands, Austria, the Czech Republic, and Sweden. By adopting the C-390 Millennium, Lithuania will significantly enhance its operational capabilities, with the added assurance that all operational needs and lifetime support for the aircraft can be provided entirely within Europe.”
