Enertrag, to provide seven 6MW-164m ‘workhorse’ turbines produced at its factory in Salzbergen, Germany. The turbines will be installed at the Bonacker wind farm in Nordrhein-Westfalen, in western Germany. This is the second new order in Germany that the company announced at the recent
Husum Wind Fair, following an order from
Prokon.
Gilan Sabatier, GE Vernova’s chief commercial officer for onshore wind business in international markets, said: “We are pleased to have the opportunity to once again support Enertrag. The latest project builds on our long-standing relationship and reflects the value they see in our ‘workhorse’ product strategy. Drawing on our industrial footprint in Salzbergen, we are well positioned to execute that strategy as we work to meet Enertrag’s needs and those of other customers in Germany.”
GE Vernova’s wind segment has a strong manufacturing presence in Germany with a 70,000m
2 facility in Salzbergen that manufactures machine heads, drive trains, and hubs for the ‘workhorse’ turbines it provides to customers in Germany and elsewhere in Europe and Asia. GE Vernova has a total installed base of some 57,000 turbines and nearly 120GW of installed capacity worldwide.
Germany installed about 3.2GW of onshore wind in 2024 and is expected to accelerate the development of onshore wind as part of its plan to get up to 80% of its power from renewable energy resources by 2030.
