Normanton-based SEW-Eurodrive UK, a leading name in drive technology, has announced a strategic engineering collaboration with Rollon, a global specialist in linear motion systems. This marks the first time the two companies’ complementary product portfolios have been brought together in the UK, offering a unified source for motors, gearboxes, and linear rails.

The partnership is designed to simplify specification and accelerate installation for customers, while enabling more complex automation projects. SEW-Eurodrive’s core offering includes motors and gearboxes, while Rollon brings expertise in linear motion solutions such as telescopic rails, linear guides, and actuators.

The collaboration, originally launched by SEW-Eurodrive and Rollon GmbH, is already bearing fruit in the UK. The two companies are currently co-engineering a commercial fire testing rig for a Scottish university. SEW-Eurodrive UK is supplying the motors and gearboxes to power the rig, while Rollon is designing the linear axis and telescopic rails to ensure smooth linear motion. The university selected the duo for their ability to deliver a one-stop solution, reducing coordination delays and project lag time.

Fully integrated solutions

Leon Hulme, technical sales manager at SEW-Eurodrive, said: “Rollon is a brand synonymous with automation excellence, so partnering with the company lets us marry our gear and motor know-how with world-class linear motion. Together we can provide UK customers with a one-stop solution and faster turnround on projects, building our reputation as the go-to brands for fully integrated solutions. We are looking forward to working together closely in the years ahead, with a view to making this a long-term partnership.”

Lee Cheshire, technical sales engineer at Rollon, added: “Joining forces with SEW-Eurodrive‘s legacy in drive technology gives UK customers double the engineering power in half the time. In an era where speed is of the essence, our combined offer will keep British industry at the forefront of innovation.”

SEW-Eurodrive delivers drive technology solutions across logistics, manufacturing, and airport handling. Rollon, founded in 1975, has spent five decades developing linear motion systems used globally in industrial automation, aerospace, medical equipment, and material handling. The cooperation signals a new era of integrated engineering solutions for the UK market, combining two pillars of motion technology into a single, powerful offering.
