The
Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) in Coventry last week played host to over 250 senior leaders, engineers, and technologists from across the UK for the second edition of its
Digital Manufacturing 2Day. The flagship event, held on 22 October and organised by MTC Events, focused on the technologies, trends, and talent shaping the digital transformation of UK manufacturing.
This year’s conference and exhibition featured more than 30 expert speakers and welcomed 25 sponsors, exhibitors, and event partners. Headline sponsor Sage was joined by industry heavyweights including Siemens Digital Industries, Dell Technologies, Tecman, Agility Cyber, Make UK, and HVM Catapult, all contributing to a dynamic and collaborative atmosphere.
Richard Watkins, MTC events director, said: “Digital Manufacturing 2Day continues to be a vital platform for connecting industry leaders, innovators and solution providers. It is inspiring to see the level of collaboration and forward-thinking that comes out of these discussions—and the clear appetite for driving digital adoption across UK manufacturing.”
Criticial role of collaborationThe day began with a keynote address titled ‘State of Digital Nation’ delivered by Lord Chris Holmes, who underscored the importance of public engagement and the need to keep people at the centre of technological and digital innovation. That message resonated throughout the event, particularly during a presentation by Brian Holliday, managing director at
Siemens Digital Industries, who highlighted the critical role of collaboration between industry, education, and government in addressing the UK’s skills challenge.
Delegates were also treated to compelling keynotes from
G&O Springs and
Ocado Technology, as well as practical case studies from both SMEs and major enterprises, including
Mars. A series of panel discussions tackled some of the sector’s most urgent topics, ranging from artificial intelligence and cybersecurity to supply chain resilience and the future of data-driven manufacturing.
Interactive ‘Lunch and Learn’ workshops, focused ‘Tech Bite’ sessions, and live technology demonstrations on the exhibition floor provided attendees with hands-on insights and extended opportunities to network and collaborate with peers, partners, and innovators.
