Over 500 manufacturing professionals visited
Yamazaki Mazak UK Ltd’s November Open House last month, as the manufacturer recorded strong interest in its latest UK-built machine tools, smart automation solutions and digital service-driven technologies. The three-day event, which took place 18-20 November at Mazak’s European Manufacturing Plant and Technology Centre in Worcester focused on how the latest advanced machine technologies can help the UK manufacturing community streamline its production processes, boost productivity and future-proof operations.
The event included over 19 live-cutting machine demonstrations, from multi-tasking, five-axis, turning and vertical machining to the latest laser-processing machines and automation systems. Visitors also explored how Mazak’s integrated solutions can help manufacturers improve productivity, reduce cycle times and embrace digital connectivity through the latest in Mazatrol CNC technology.
As the only machine tool company that fully designs and manufactures new products in the UK, visitors were particularly interested in the Mazak machines produced in Worcester. In addition to its highly popular Quick Turn lathes and VCN and VTC vertical machining centres, visitors were drawn to two of Mazak’s latest UK-made ranges — the Integrex j-200 NEO, alongside the next generation of the highly popular CV5 series.
With production of the Integrex j-200 NEO now underway, the new line – along with investments in automated laser cutting in the company’s Sheet Metal Department – were a popular highlight of the factory tours, which were delivered by Mazak apprentices throughout the three days. Visitors were invited to take part in dedicated ‘Technology Tours’ showcasing Mazak’s latest innovations at the European Technology Centre. Key highlights included automated gear manufacturing, entry-level five-axis machining and multi-tasking solutions, as well as advancements in connectivity through Mazak iCONNECT and the new Mazatrol DX platform. Other activities included networking with leading suppliers of complementary technologies that enhance machining efficiency.
For a small charitable donation, visitors also had the chance to test their driving skills on multiple F1 racing simulators. The fastest lap time recorded was 1min 29.37sec and the initiative raised over £800 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
