SEW-Eurodrive UK appoints new managing directorAndy Turner, managing director for SEW-Eurodrive UK

Normanton-headquartered SEW-Eurodrive UK, a leading specialist in drive technology, has announced the appointment of Andy Turner as its new managing director following the retirement of John Pickup.

Mr Turner takes on the role after 17 years with the company in various sales and operations positions. Starting out at the company in 2008 as an external area sales manager, he progressed through the ranks before being appointed operations director in April 2025. Having started his career as an apprentice and later qualifying as a mechanical engineer, Mr Turner brings extensive knowledge of the drives and control process and supply chain.

John Pickup retires after 31 years with SEW-Eurodrive UK, having held roles in finance and management, including finance director before his appointment as managing director in 2022. Mr Turner will now oversee the leadership and performance of SEW-Eurodrive’s UK division, defining strategy in-line with global objectives and managing operations and financial performance.

SEW-Eurodrive UK is part of the world’s leading drive technology group, offering integrated products, software and customer support for industries ranging from logistics and manufacturing to airport handling. The UK division employs around 160 people across four locations and has a turnover of £65 million. Its customers include major brands including Amazon, Coca-Cola and Manchester Airport Group, and the company’s 10,000ft2 Normanton production site operates 24/7, 365 days a year.

Mr Turner said: “I am proud to be taking on the role of managing director for this wonderful company that I have been a part of for 17 years. I have some very big shoes to fill but am grateful to John Pickup for his advice and guidance over the years to prepare me for this role.

He concluded: “As we look ahead, I am keen to further unite our teams across our various products to ensure that we are offering the very best, holistic and effective solutions for our customers. We want to be the go-to industrial engineering solutions provider, and I am confident that we have the team, the products and the ambition to achieve that goal through maintaining consistent sales growth and growing our market share in automation, industrial gears and service.”
