AMufacture to exhibit at Oceanology International 2026Will Howden

One of the UK’s foremost additive contract manufacturers is preparing to showcase its capabilities in marine engineering as it heads to Oceanology International 2026. AMufacture, founded by former GB Olympic sailor and naval architect Will Howden, will exhibit alongside its global technology partner HP at the world’s leading ocean technology event (Stand T021). The Portsmouth-based business operates one of Europe’s most advanced fleets of HP Multi Jet Fusion systems, positioning it at the forefront of production-scale additive manufacturing (AM).

The company will be among more than 500 exhibitors at the show, which draws around 8,000 professionals from across the ocean science and technology sectors. For Mr Howden — who represented Great Britain at the 2008 Beijing Olympics — manufacturing was a natural progression after years competing at the highest levels of international sailing. His early work designing and 3-D printing components for high‑performance racing yachts ultimately led to the creation of AMufacture, co‑founded with Craig Pyser.

On the opening day of the event taking place at ExCeL London, Mr Howden will take part in a panel discussion titled Dive Deeper into 3D Printing: Marine, UUVs and Offshore Applications. The session will be moderated by Claudia Galdini of HP Additive Manufacturing, with fellow panellist Robert Balduhn, co‑founder and technical director of Framework Robotics GmbH.

Mr Howden said: “We will be drawing on real-world examples to explore how additive manufacturing is being applied to marine environments right now – from unmanned underwater vehicles to offshore applications. The marine sector has some of the most demanding requirements of any industry. Components need to perform in extreme conditions, to precise specifications and, increasingly, they need to be available quickly and reliably as part of a resilient supply chain. AM, done properly at production scale, is ideally placed to meet those demands and Oceanology International is exactly the right place to be having that conversation.”

AMufacture has developed a strong reputation for combining the rigour and consistency of industrial additive production with a hands‑on, engineering‑led approach that distinguishes it from conventional print bureaux. Alongside his role at the company, co‑founder Craig Pyser also serves as chair of AMUK, the UK’s AM trade organisation.
