Kent-based Startrite Engineering Co, established in Gillingam around 1950, built a reputation over the years for high-quality, durable bandsaws, table saws, and woodworking machinery for both education and industry.
The company was well-known for supplying robust, long-lasting and reliable machines, such as the 352 and V-Series vertical bandsaws, H250 and HB250 horizontal bandsaws, and tilt arbour table saw models. Many of these production workhorses are still in operation in factories up and down the country.
A milestone moment came in 2002 when
Machine Spares Ltd purchased the original drawings, tooling and rights to manufacture Startrite spares for metal-cutting saws, including vertical, horizontal and cold saws, and the company says it is its mission to keep these quality saws alive and running. Startrite machines have a solid frame construction, well-designed blade-guide systems and proven British reliability that is rarely matched with imported machines.
Replacement components are manufactured in-house at Machine Spares’ Black Country machine shop facility on the latest CNC machines, ensuring all spares supplied are as good as, if not better than new. Machine Spares holds in stock over 10,000 component part numbers that can in most cases be despatched the same day, ensuring a machine will be up and running again within the shortest timeframe.
The company said: “We don’t stop at supplying spares we know these machines inside out and can help with advice on repairs. Given the cost of getting engineers on-site, Machine Spares offers a service where assemblies can be sent in to our works for assessment and repair normally turned round in 48hr, offering a considerable time and cost saving. Given the build quality, availability of spares and technical advice, original Startrite machines are an excellent investment.”
