Manufacturers across the UK are being urged to sign up for National Manufacturing Day 2026, as Make UK opens registrations for what promises to be the sector’s largest-ever national Open House yet.Taking place on 24 September, National Manufacturing Day for the fifth consecutive year, the nationwide event will see hundreds of companies throw open their doors to schools, colleges, universities and the wider public - offering a unique, behind-the-scenes look at modern manufacturing and the exciting careers the sector can offer.

Now firmly established as a flagship event in the industry calendar, National Manufacturing Day gives visitors the chance to experience first-hand how manufacturers operate, explore cutting-edge technologies, and discover the diverse opportunities available across the sector - from engineering and aerospace to food, defence and advanced materials.

Manufacturers are encouraged to sign up early to take part. Registration is simple and quick - requiring only a company name, logo, a brief description, and a contact email. Detailed event plans can be developed over time, with support and resources provided by the National Manufacturing Day team.

Whether hosting site tours, skills demonstrations, careers talks or hands-on activities, businesses of all sizes can take part and play a vital role in inspiring future talent. A full suite of resources is available to help companies plan their day, including guidance on engaging with schools and colleges, activity ideas, and communication templates.

Coordinated celebration

National Manufacturing Day brings together businesses from across the country in a coordinated celebration of UK industry. Participating organisations will showcase their operations, highlight innovation, and demonstrate the real-world impact of manufacturing on everyday life. Building on the success of previous years, the 2026 campaign aims to reach even more young people and career changers, helping to address skills gaps and strengthen the future workforce.

Make UK will once again work in partnership with key government departments to maximise engagement. Events will be promoted to schools, colleges and training providers nationwide, making it easy for educators and students to find and attend local opportunities.

Job Centres will also support the initiative, helping connect jobseekers with participating employers and facilitating recruitment activity where appropriate. With schools and colleges often planning their academic calendars months in advance, manufacturers are strongly encouraged to begin outreach as early as possible to secure visits and maximise attendance.

National Manufacturing Day is a powerful opportunity to showcase the innovation, creativity and career potential within UK manufacturing — and to inspire the next generation to be part of it.
