SMEs urged to enter ‘Enabling Innovation’ competition at Advanced EngineeringAmbitious start‑ups and SMEs across the UK’s engineering and manufacturing sectors are being urged to seize a major opportunity to showcase their innovations, as part of the Enabling Innovation zone at Advanced Engineering 2026.

Organisers have confirmed that, due to overwhelming demand, the popular innovation showcase area is expanding, creating additional space for cutting‑edge technologies and breakthrough solutions.

The Enabling Innovation competition, part of the Advanced Engineering exhibition taking place on 4–5 November 2026 at the NEC, Birmingham, offers a coveted platform for selected SMEs and start‑ups. Successful applicants will receive a complimentary exhibition pod, placing them at the heart of one of the UK’s leading engineering events.

The initiative is designed to spotlight emerging innovators with products and technologies that can transform manufacturing and engineering. Those selected will benefit from: Direct access to high-quality leads, including potential customers, partners and investors; industry recognition, by being showcased at a major national engineering event; enhanced credibility and profile within the UK’s advanced engineering community.

Jeremy Whittingham, Head of Community & Content at Easyfairs organisers of the event said: “The response this year has been fantastic. By expanding the Enabling Innovation area, we’re able to support even more of the UK’s most exciting emerging companies. If you have a game‑changing product or technology, this is your chance to put it in front of the people who matter most.”

The competition is open to forward‑thinking SMEs and start‑ups that offer innovative products, services or technologies relevant to manufacturing or engineering, can present a tangible solution, such as a prototype, demonstrator or commercial product and are keen to accelerate growth by connecting with industry stakeholders.

Demand for spaces remains highly competitive, and entries will be judged on both innovation and potential industry impact.

Applicants must complete a short online form outlining their business, technology and the value they bring to the sector. With the deadline now extended, companies have a final window to put themselves forward.

With the new deadline of Friday 3 July fast approaching, organisers are encouraging eligible businesses not to miss out on what could be a pivotal moment in their growth journey.
