Delkia, a leading provider of safety-critical engineering and technology solutions for highly regulated sectors, is sponsoring an exclusive industry event, in partnership with Jennings Brewery, aboard the Santa Maria, a full-scale replica of Christopher Columbus’s flagship.
The event, on the evening of Thursday 6 August, will bring together leaders from across the defence and nuclear sectors.
The Santa Maria, built in 2018 by the Nao Victoria Foundation, offers a striking setting for the event. As a faithful reconstruction of the vessel used in the first transatlantic voyage of 1492, Delkia says it serves as a powerful symbol of navigation, decision-making, and operating in uncertainty, principles that remain highly relevant to modern engineering challenges.
Delkia CEO Kurt Canfield said: “The Santa Maria represents more than exploration, it represents the challenge of making critical decisions in uncertain conditions. That same challenge exists today in the environments we operate in. At Delkia, we are trusted to navigate complexity and deliver mission-critical outcomes where failure is not an option.”
Hosting the event aboard the Santa Maria reinforces Delkia’s commitment to thoughtful engagement with industry partners. The ship’s design – an integrated system of structure, navigation, and human skill – mirrors the systems-based thinking required to deliver modern engineering solutions.
Guests will step aboard a vessel that reflects the themes of navigation, risk, assurance, and delivery, connecting the legacy of exploration with the realities of contemporary engineering.
Through events such as this, Delkia continues to foster collaboration across sectors, supporting innovation while ensuring the highest standards of safety and performance.
Stephen Neale, managing director at Delkia Nuclear Solutions, said: “This evening is about bringing together people who are shaping the future of critical infrastructure. By reflecting on where we’ve come from, we can better navigate the challenges ahead.”
Delkia is a specialist engineering and technology company delivering safety-critical solutions within highly regulated environments, including defence and nuclear sectors.
