Mirka UK at Manufacturing & Supply Chain Conference & Exhibition Mirka UK will showcase its latest tooling and abrasive innovations at the Manufacturing & Supply Chain Conference & Exhibition at the SEC Glasgow, on 30 September and – 1 October, on stand BO2. The products on show have been engineered to tackle a wide variety of materials and applications and will help manufacturers achieve faster processes, greater flexibility and a consistent high-quality finish.

Visitors will be able to see the powerful DEROS RS 600 and POLAROS tools as well as the AOS-B 130NV and AROS-B 150 NV from the cordless range. Alongside the tools will be the versatile abrasive line-up led by Abranet and Iridium SR ranges.

The versatile DEROS RS 600 blends power and precision inside a user-centric design. It is powered by a robust 750W brushless motor that ensures it can be employed to sand a wide variety of materials and applications efficiently, while minimising vibrations and noise. It also helps provide users with a dust-free workspace as it effectively contains the dust generated when in use with the help of its suction system, which is distributed around the backing pad to ensure optimal performance beyond hole alignment, reducing health risks. In addition, the tool is equipped with bluetooth technology, which allows the user to monitor and customise its settings to ensure it performs at an optimal level, whether it is the first or thousandth time it has been put to work.

Complementing the DEROS’ power is the POLAROS RP 600. This new addition to Mirka’s product portfolio has a compact and balanced design that keeps the user’s hands closer to the surface for increased stability and control during the polishing process, especially for detailed or vertical work. In addition, the tool can efficiently manage its internal temperature when in use, enabling it to minimise temperature build-up, particularly during extended periods of use, to protect the internal components, so the tool has a longer lifespan. Furthermore, the tool has a low noise output of 58 decibels - the sound level of a normal conversation - which improves working conditions in shared or noise-sensitive environments.

The Ramp Up and Ramp Down system puts the user in control of the POLAROS RP 600. The Ramp Up function has been developed to slowly raise the RPM as pressure is applied to the tool, and it also prevents sudden increases in speed that would send the polishing compound everywhere apart from the surface being worked on. The Ramp Down function prevents the operator from applying excessive pressure to the machine or the surface, and once the tool feels the pressure is getting too much, it will gradually lower the RPM until the pressure is reduced.

Alongside the DEROS RS and POLAROS will be a selection of Mirka’s cordless sanders led by the AOS-B 130NV and AROS-B 150 NV. These two tools have been designed for use across multiple sanding operations and can produce a high-quality, consistently smooth finish, maximising productivity. Their lightweight design allows them to be moved easily from job to job for more efficient use of the workspace available, while the compact ergonomic design provides users with a comfortable grip that will enable them to operate the products for a long period of time, while delivering good control over the sanding process. The low noise and vibration levels reduce arm fatigue, which, in turn, minimise the risk of Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome. Mirka UK

The two abrasives complementing the tools on display focus on versatility. Iridium SR has been designed to deliver a consistent, uniform cut and scratch pattern that is fast and easy to polish out, making it ideal for the finest finishing stages of automotive refinishing as well as vehicle manufacturing. In addition, it performs consistently on clearcoat, topcoat and lacquers as well as composite processing.

With Abranet, there is a grit for every user and it can be employed for sanding multiple applications including fillers, primers, lacquers and composite materials. It provides a virtually dust-free work environment when used with suitable dust extraction. Its hard-wearing surface also offers users a faster process and prevents the disc from rapid or premature wear, which leads to a lifespan that is 10 to 15 times longer than traditional abrasives

Chris Brook, business sector manager transport & industry, Mirka UK, said: “Every product on our stand has been developed to help manufacturers work smarter, not harder. From high-performance tools through to our latest abrasive technology, visitors will be able to see how Mirka's complete systems deliver faster processes, greater versatility and consistently high-quality results. In addition, our technical team is looking forward to welcoming such an engaged audience to the stand to discuss their challenges and demonstrate how our solutions can help overcome them.”
