Largest harbour crane in the UK#engineering #mfg #crane A multi-million-pound crane from Rostock in Germany has arrived in the North East. The Liebherr crane — the largest of its kind in the UK — has been specially designed for Seaton Port, where it will take part in the expansion of Able UK’s Tees and Humber operations. It can lift 208 tonnes and has an operating radius of 58m.

Able UK managing director Andrew Jacques said: “The acquisition of this specialist crane underlines our ‘future-proofing’ to ensure that we continue to provide the best-possible service to meet the needs of our customers. It will certainly help to attract more business to Seaton Port and the Tees, providing more opportunities for local businesses and further complementing the construction of new quays.”

The crane will be used for cargo handling, lifting of offshore wind-sector components and the maintenance of oil and gas drilling rigs. Its arrival coincides with Able UK’s latest contract win, which will see it dispose of four offshore structures from the Shell-operated Brent Field in the North Sea.
