Carey Glass to open new plantCarey Glass is planning to establish a flat-glass-processing facility in north Wales to supply developers of big infrastructure projects across the UK. This will lead to the creation of 80 jobs.

The Irish manufacturer is to lease an 80,000ft2 industrial unit on Hawarden Business Park, Flintshire, with room for future expansion.

Economy Minister Edwina Hart (pictured) said that the Deeside Enterprise Zone will provide Carey Glass with an excellent operating base for manufacturing, distribution and sales into the UK and European markets. “Apart from the creation of new jobs, the new facility will also create indirect supply-chain benefits for the local area, including transport and logistics.”

Managing director Bill Carey said that the facility put his business “right in the heart of a manufacturing hub” and will allow it to better serve its UK client base.

Founded in 1965, family-owned Carey Glass currently employs 525 people at two sites: one in Nenagh, County Tipperary, and the other in Lurgan, Northern Ireland.
