The Institute for Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (AME) — a £32 million collaboration between Coventry University and Unipart Manufacturing — has reached its first-year target for student numbers.
It will welcome more than 20 students — and turn them into industry-ready graduates. Their studies at AME will be split into two 16-week semesters per academic year. Construction of the new 18,300sq ft manufacturing hub is almost complete.
Wendy Garner, associate head of mechanical, automotive and manufacturing at Coventry University, said: “This is a fantastic first response to what we are looking to achieve at AME and shows that we’ve got the student world excited.
"The undergraduates will be learning on cutting-edge technology, not to mention working with Unipart engineers who have years of experience. It’s a real ‘win-win’ situation for them.
"At the end of the degree course, they should be ready for employment either at Unipart or elsewhere within the manufacturing supply chain.”
