In combination with Scherer Feinbau, Chiron — represented in the UK by the Engineering Technology Group, Southam (
www.engtechgroup.com) — will be demonstrating an integrated system comprising a Scherer VDZ 100 DS vertical lathe, a Chiron DZ12W machining centre with a workpiece changing device, and a robot that ‘operates’ both machines.
Chiron will also be introducing a new ‘dynamic’ package for its MILL-series machines. The MILL 2000 on show offers axis accelerations of 1.7g and a rapid-traverse rate of 75m/min. The company’s new double-spindle DZ18W Magnum also offers increased axis speeds (up from 60 to 75m/min), a working envelope of 630 x 530 x 450mm and a 2.2sec chip- to-chip time. The spindles have a maximum speed of 16,000rev/min and a torque of 180Nm.
Chiron will also be introducing its new Baseline series of single-spindle machines for manufacturers of small- and medium-size batches of components. These machines are also available in five-axis versions and with the option of Heidenhain or Siemens control. (Hall 11, Stand E04)
