Now available through 2D CNC Machinery Ltd, Hinckley (
www.2dcnc.co.uk), is the OKK VC-X350 vertical machining centre, which has been developed for machining high-alloy materials and is pitched at complex mould-and-die applications. The machine can also be used for applications that require precision turning; the trunnion-mounted C axis offers speeds up to 1,000rev/min.
The machine offers axis travels of 600 x 430 x 460mm, rapid traverse rates of 50m/min in X and Y (36m/min in Z), and a 7.5kW spindle drive with a speed range of 100-12,000rev/min as standard. Tool capacity is 30 positions, while a cam-controlled mechanism achieves tool changes in 1.3sec.
The trunnion unit has a 350mm-diameter rotary table, with the tilting A axis providing -120 to +30deg of movement and 1,500Nm of hydraulic clamping force. In addition, the 360deg rotational C axis incorporates a 500Nm air clamp. Control is by Fanuc 31-iA5.
