Littlehampton-based ADM Fine Machining Ltd — established earlier this year when specialist aerospace sub-contractor ADM Engineering Ltd bought Fine Machining Ltd — recently invested in a large-capacity Doosan DNM 650 II vertical machining centre from Mills CNC (
www.millscnc.co.uk).
This is being used — along with 10 previously purchased Doosan machines — to produce high-precision and complex components for companies in various sectors, including aerospace, motor-sport medical, defence and petrochemical.
ADM is committed to ‘adding value’ and building long-term partnerships with its customers. Business development director Peter Howell says: “To achieve the high part accuracies and surface finishes expected by our customers requires in-depth knowledge concerning the machinability of different materials — and having access to high-performance machine tools.
“The Doosan lathes and machining centres we have invested in have a rigid design and build plus powerful high-torque
spindle capabilities, and they are thermally stable — all pre-requisites for machining tough materials. To achieve our customers’ tight deadlines and to ensure fast and efficient throughput, we invest in multi-tasking machines that help to reduce set-up and cycle times — and also improve accuracy due to fewer fixturing/re-fixturing operations being required.”
ADM sales director Nick Moore says: “If one of our machines goes down or we need a part, we can rely on Mills to be on the case straight away. When you’re working round the clock to tight deadlines, that is of critical importance — to us and to our customers.”
