The MultiSwiss range of multi-spindle turning machines from the Swiss company Tornos (
www.tornos.com) features modular tooling systems that enable customers to undertake a range of machining operations — including milling and micro milling.
Sometimes, these operations generate significant volumes of fine swarf, which can accumulate in the coolant filtration circuit — especially when materials like brass are being machined — significantly reducing filter service life.
To eliminate this possibility and maximise filter life, Tornos (which has a UK subsidiary in Coalville) now offers a new (and compact) optional system that enables filter consumption to be reduced significantly.
This system has been designed to ensure the effective separation of any contaminant particles from the oil by means of centrifugal force.
It can be incorporated on MultiSwiss 8x26, MultiSwiss 6x32 or MultiSwiss 6x16 machines; it increases the service life of 5µm filters by as much as a factor of four.
Further benefits of this new system include reduced machine down-time, reduced maintenance costs and increased service life of the cutting oil.
