Pontefract-based Advanced Diesel Engineering has bought a second manufacturing site at Hellaby Industrial Estate in Rotherham with financial support from the Barclays Northern Powerhouse Fund.

Established in 1998, the company is a supplier of diesel generators, power generation solutions and bespoke acoustic enclosures for generators that are used in a wide variety of sectors. It also designs and manufactures switchgear
enclosures.

Company chairman Darren Robson said (www.adeltd.co.uk ): “We have been looking for an additional manufacturing site for some time now, so it is great that we were able to act quickly and secure the purchase of the Rotherham site.

The new facility will increase our manufacturing capability and allow us to focus on building generator enclosures in Pontefract, while moving the production of switch-gear enclosures to Hellaby and recruiting more staff locally to support the expansion.”

Advanced Diesel Engineering currently employs over 120 people in Pontefract and expects to create 80 new jobs at the Rotherham site. Its turnover for the current financial year is expected to exceed £25 million.

Oliver Whitehurst, Barclays relationship director, who put together the funding package, said: “It has been very rewarding working with Darren and his team, and I know they have big plans to take the business to the next level.

"The funding from our Northern Powerhouse Fund will enable Advanced Diesel Engineering to reach new markets and increase its overseas trade. We are delighted to be able to support the company in its growth.”
