Schondelmaier GmbH recently bought a second-hand 1,000-tonne forging press from Schuler (

This machine, which had been providing dependable service at a major automotive manufacturer in Southern Germany since 1985 and still had ‘plenty of life left in it’, was dismantled, transported to Schondelmaier’s headquarters in Germany’s Black Forest region, re-assembled and back in service in just a few weeks.
Managing director Joachim Schondelmaier said: “We believe that this press will run for another 20 years. Used presses from Schuler are basically always a safe bet.
“We purchased a pre-owned 500-tonne hydraulic machine through Schuler subsidiary Vögtle earlier this year; our press shop also houses a number of other cold-forging machines from Schuler.”
In addition to its quality, the deciding factor in Schondelmaier’s recent purchase of the used 1,000-tonne press was its rapid availability .
Uwe Paschke, sales and marketing director, said: “This is one of the reasons why we were able to get an additional order.
“The press is now producing a number of different components, including small automotive parts that are used in electric motors and seat adjustment mechanisms.
“It is fully automated and features a feed and unloading device, as well as a transfer unit.”
