DMG Mori to hold Open House in GermanyAt DMG Mori’s Open House in Pfronten (southern Germany) from 11 to 15 February, the global machine tool manufacturer will focus on digitalisation and automation.

This will include: end-to-end connectivity as the standard for all machines; updating of existing versions of the CELOS machine interface; the new customer portal‘my DMG MORI’; and the co-operation with US software provider TULIP as an entry into digitalisation (www.pfronten.dmgmori.com/en).

Among more than 40 machines on show, there will be three world premieres: the DMC 65 H MonoBlock universal horizontal-spindle machining centre; the modular PH Cell automated pallet-handling system; and the Lasertec 400 Shape for laser texturing.

The DMC 65 H MonoBlock is said to combine the flexibility and ergonomics of a five-axis vertical machining centre with the productivity and process reliability of a horizontal machining centre.

Optimal chip evacuation makes this machine particularly suitable for reliable machining of aerospace structural components.

Meanwhile, the PH Cell automated pallet-handling system (with a 10.7m2 footprint) will be seen feeding a DMU 65 MonoBlock machining centre (pallet loading from the side provides good access to the working area).

Up to 20 pallets (depending on their size) can be accommodated, and the system can be expanded by a second module.

The Lasertec 400 Shape expands the DMG Mori machine portfolio for five-axis laser structuring into the range of large moulds — up to 3,350 x 1,350 x 1,000mm and weighing up to 20 tonnes.

The newly developed laser head swivels from -100 to +135deg and has a rotation range of ±200deg, making it possible to produce undercuts.

Additive manufacturing will also feature, with DMG Mori presenting the Lasertec 125 3D hybrid, launched in November 2019.

Based on the MonoBlock series, this is designed for parts up to 1,250mm in diameter x 745mm high and weighing up to 2 tonnes.

With laser deposition welding, it is possible to change between two materials quickly under CNC.

Be seen in all the right places!
