New range of compact three-axis VMCs

New range of compact three-axis VMCsMills CNC Ltd, the Leamington Spa-based distributor of Doosan machine tools in the UK and Ireland (www.millscnc.co.uk), is launching a new range of three-axis vertical machining centres.

The compact DEM 4000 machine is the latest addition to Doosan’s range of vertical machining centres — a range that includes the best-selling DNM- and Mynx-series machines.

Despite its relatively small footprint, the DEM 4000 offers a work envelope of 550 x 400 x 450mm, a rapid-traverse rate of 24m/min on all three axes, a 650 x 400mm table (with 400kg maximum load), and a 7.5kW 8,000rev/min BT40 high-performance spindle.

Furthermore, the machine’s rigid design and build “ensures high and consistent levels of part accuracy and repeatability — as well as good surface finishes”.

The DEM 4000 is equipped with a Doosan Fanuc i control and can be supplied with a choice of automatic tool-changer configurations: the armless ATC option has a 16-position capacity, while the cam-type ATC option has a 20-position capacity.

Tony Dale, Mills CNC’s technical director, said: “Doosan machine tools have a reputation for accuracy, reliability and great value.

"The new DEM 4000 VMC ticks all these boxes and more, providing component manufacturers with a high-performance milling solution at an attractive price.”

The new DEM machine will make its UK and Irish debut on Mills CNC’s stand (Z05) at the Future Engineering Ireland Show in Dublin (29-30 January).
