Medical firm to expand and create new jobs

South Wales-based Williams Medical Supplies (WMS) is to create 91 jobs at its Rhymney facility after securing a £650,000 Welsh government grant.

The company currently employs 178 people at its Maerdy Industrial Estate base, and that will grow to 269 over the next three years.

Established in 1986, WMS is a leading provider of medical supplies and services to the UK health-care market; the expansion is part of a plan to treble sales and implement a new automated ‘pick and pack’ facility in the warehouse to increase levels of stock and improve efficiency.

The company (www.wms.co.uk) currently supplies more than 10,000 GP surgeries and primary-care organisations throughout the UK.
