Mitutoyo invests in 10 RPI rotary tables

Mitutoyo invests in 10 RPI rotary tablesBath-based RPI UK (www.rpiuk.com), which designs and manufactures precision positioning devices for high-accuracy rotary and angular inspection systems, has sold 10 of its rotary tables to Mitutoyo Corporation in Japan.

The latter has integrated the three QuadMatic and seven QuadSlimLine rotary tables into its high-precision co-ordinate measurement machines (CMMs) — made in both Japan and the UK.

Specifically designed as a fourth axis, they are extremely accurate — equivalent to hitting a golf ball at a hole more than 22km away and scoring a hole in one every time.

RPI’s sales manager, Jim Palmer, said: “It is great news that Mitutoyo has chosen to invest in our Quadrant range of rotary tables.

"As well as significantly improving overall measurement accuracy and reducing uncertainty, our rotary tables also greatly increase measuring volume, thereby improving the flexibility, productivity and efficiency of our customers’ CMMs.”

The addition of Mitutoyo to its customer base means that RPI now supplies all the major CMM manufacturers that incorporate rotary tables, including Hexagon, Renishaw, LK and Wenzel.

The company has been supplying the CMM market since 1977 and now has more than 750 installations world-wide.

The QuadSlimLine and QuadMatic are part of its Quadrant range of CMM tables, which also includes the QuadDualPurpose, QuadProfile and the QuadUniversal.

They come in a wide size range, with diameters from 200 to 1,500mm diameter.
