Spain-based Cafisur, an industrial sheet metal fabrication specialist, established in 2016 by the
CMZ Group, a world-renowned quality CNC lathe manufacturer, has recently completed the move to a new facility in Cádiz. The 8,200m
2 building sits on a 16,000m
2 plot of land allowing for future expansion, and it will help to significantly increase the company's production capacity.
Cafisur was established by CMZ in 2016 to bring more production in-house. Previously, CMZ had designed the sheet metal elements of the lathes and assembled them, while a network of external suppliers manufactured them.
The availability of highly qualified labour, bolstered by the decline in the shipbuilding industry in the Andalusian province, was a key factor for CMZ choosing Cádiz as the new site for the Cafisur facility.
As a result of the move, Cafisur now neighbours three Tier One Spanish aerostructures suppliers — the Andalusian aerospace company Alestis, Aernnova and Aciturri.
The relocation to the new facility from its nearby 3,000m
2 plant will enable Cafisur to increase its production capacity by 50%, as it aims to increase its turnover to 10 million euros in the next five years and create new jobs.
Cafisur is currently focusing on supplying and fully meeting CMZ’s needs, but is now in a position to look to enter new markets and become a leader in the sheet metal industry.
