Optimax launches the evixscan 3D Quadro+ scanner Leicestershire-based Optimax, a specialist in optical inspection and non-contact measurement, has launched the new evixscan 3D Quadro+ scanner into the UK market, a universal 3-D scanning solution based on structured light technology.

This ‘state of the art’ device offers two distinct scanning ranges, enabling fast and accurate measurements of both large and small objects, and with its exceptional versatility, the new scanner eliminates the need for multiple devices, making it a valuable asset for various applications in a wide range of industries.

The evixscan 3D Quadro+ scanner stands out with its ability to efficiently capture measurement data for objects of different sizes. By offering two scanning ranges, this innovative scanner accommodates the precise measurement of small parts with high accuracy, as well as the rapid geometry measurement of large objects. For the inner range, objects from 120 to 450mm can be easily scanned, while for the outer range, objects from 250 to 1,000mm can be accommodated.

Additionally, the Quadro+ can scan dark objects due to its short scanner-to-object distance. Its adaptability is further enhanced by the capability to combine point clouds from both scanning ranges, broadening its range of applications. This versatility makes the Quadro+ an ideal solution that seamlessly integrates with robots and cobots on production lines.

The scan range of the Quadro+ is determined by the choice of either the 12 or 9 mega pixel cameras, providing a point density of 352pts/mm2 or 88pts/mm2 respectively, in the case of the larger scan range. Ensuring exceptional accuracy, the scanning precision has been verified to VDI/VDE 2634, Part 2, 4.1 Ps, achieving measurements with an accuracy as fine as 0.007mm. The Quadro+ employs a blue LED light source and boasts a minimum scanning time of 1.2sec, ‘maximising efficiency without compromising quality’.

Furthermore, the convenience of changing scanning ranges on the Quadro+ is seamlessly handled through software, eliminating the need for recalibration after each adjustment. With the evixscan 3-D Suite 2.8 software, scans from two different Quadro+ scopes can be effortlessly combined, significantly reducing work processes. This software integration proves particularly valuable when specific parts of objects require scanning at a high resolution, while other areas can be scanned with lower resolution, resulting in accelerated workflows.

Designed to cater to various industry needs, the evixscan 3D Quadro+ scanner excels in applications such as reverse engineering, quality control, and rapid prototyping.
