Borbet GmbH acquires wheel manufacturer Dymag

Borbet GmbH acquires wheel manufacturer DymagDymag Technologies Ltd, a new wholly-owned subsidiary of Borbet GmbH — a leading global manufacturer of light alloy wheels — has acquired the trade and assets of Dymag Group Ltd, a manufacturer and developer of carbon rims for cars and motorcycles that was founded in 1974 and is based in Chippenham, the UK. The pre-pack transaction includes the Dymag brand, patents, production facilities and the immediate integration of all employees.

Chris Shelley, director of Dymag Technologies Ltd, said: “This partnership is a significant step for Dymag-branded products and will position Dymag Technologies as a leading supplier to premium car manufacturers worldwide. We thank Puma Private Equity for their long-standing commitment and support in the development of Dymag branded world-class carbon wheels. Dymag Technologies will continue to supply BX-F wheels to aftermarket customers in the USA and Asia, as well as Tier One wheel companies worldwide. In addition, Dymag Technologies will continue to develop and produce its motorbike rims at its UK site.”

Borbets’ CEO Burkhard Plett added: “The acquisition of Dymag assets by Dymag Technologies expands our portfolio to include carbon and magnesium rims. This move underlines our aim to be a leader in all key automotive wheel technologies.”

Dymag Technologies will operate as a standalone subsidiary of Borbet in Chippenham and will work with Borbet to scale production of its OEM and aftermarket BX-F carbon hybrid wheels. These products will be offered to Borbet’s OEM and aftermarket customers to ensure seamless integration of the technology into Borbet’s portfolio.

Borbet, founded in 1881 and based in Hallenberg-Hesborn, Germany, is a global manufacturer of light alloy wheels that supplies over 30 automotive manufacturers from seven sites worldwide.
