Newcastle-based
BEL Valves, based in Newcastle is a specialist engineering company focused on designing and manufacturing high-performance valves and actuators for challenging, high-pressure environments, primarily in the oil and gas sector, with expertise in producing valves that operate reliably under extreme pressures and temperatures.
With valves that operate at pressures as high as 20,000psi (1,370Bar) the accuracy of the machining is vitally important to ensure that they operate effectively in extreme positions. To improve its measurement capability BEL Valves has purchased a Starrett HB400 profile projector fitted with a MX200 digital readout (DRO) from Market Harborough-based
Optimax IIM Ltd, which enables the manufacturer to measure the profile of the sealing grooves and other features on the valves.
Geoff Garner, quality control supervisor at BEL valves, said: “Optimax provided and installed a Starrett HB400 profile projector fitted with MX200 DRO and it was installed and calibrated, in our factory, in just one day. The engineer was well trained, and the installation went very smoothly, and he also provided comprehensive training. We need this type of support and highly recommend Optimax as a premier supplier.”
