EMCON announces bold conference agenda for 2025EMCON, North East England’s flagship engineering and manufacturing trade show, returns next month with a bold conference agenda focused on powering performance, driving innovation and securing the future of UK industry. The annual event will take place on 18 September at the Sunderland Live Arena, Houghton-le-Spring, and will feature 100 exhibitors from across the engineering and manufacturing supply chain. It is expected to attract around 1,000 delegates from around the UK.

EMCON organisers Engineering and Manufacturing Network (EMN) have now confirmed the conference programme for the event, with expert-led sessions covering maintenance excellence, ‘smart’ manufacturing and supply chain security.

The evolving role of a maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) strategy in building resilience and sustainability will be explored in the Maintenance Excellence stream, delivered in partnership with the University of Sunderland’s North East Maintenance Forum and chaired by Derek Dixon, associate head of school for computer science and engineering.

EMCONThe Smart, Secure and Future-Ready stream will focus on technologies that are reshaping manufacturing - from AI-driven production to cyber-resilient supply chains. In the event’s Securing Tomorrow: Innovation in Supply Chains stream, speakers will focus on securing critical materials and aligning with defence sector needs, as global pressures mount.

EMCON, which is supported by headline sponsor MEC Machine Tools, will also feature Meet The Buyer Sessions, giving suppliers the opportunity to connect with registered buyers at the show. Confirmed buyers include: Stadler Rail, Siemens Energy, Nissan, RED Scientific, European Metal Recycling, Walker Filtration and Sellafield.

EMCON’s exhibitors will include companies specialising in fabrication, automation, robotics, software, training and maintenance. Ailsa Anderson, director of development at EMN, said: “We are thrilled to be hosting such a variety of expert speakers in EMCON’s 18th year, who will be addressing major challenges – and pointing the way forward for engineering and manufacturing companies.

“EMCON is a catalyst for industrial transformation, where visitors have access to cutting-edge insights and practical frameworks, alongside networking opportunities – and the chance to tap into our community’s ‘hive mind’. We are looking forward to seeing the North’s engineering and manufacturing sector come together at EMCON for a day that will ignite new partnerships, ideas and business growth.”
