Craig Pyser, chief executive of AMufacturePortsmouth-based additive manufacturing specialist
AMufacture is preparing for its largest presence yet at
Metstrade 2025, one of the marine industry’s leading international trade shows. The company has doubled the size of its stand at the Amsterdam event and will exhibit alongside global technology leader
HP to demonstrate how 3-D printing is reshaping marine manufacturing.
Founded in 2018 by Craig Pyser and Will Howden, AMufacture has rapidly grown into one of the UK’s leading contract manufacturers in the additive sector. The company was the first in the UK to operate the HP 5420 White 3-D printer and specialises in HP Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) technology, offering high-quality parts with scalability and fast lead times.
Will Howden, co-founder and naval architect, said: “The great thing about
Metstrade is that it is not a boat show as such, but somewhere to showcase everything which goes on board boats. That is a huge market and something which additive manufacturing is ideally suited to respond to. While it has traditionally been seen as an R&D tool, it is very much becoming a proven, high-quality manufacturing method. Up to 90% of everything we now produce is destined to be an end part that could be in an automotive, marine or aerospace application rather than being used as a prototype. The technology and materials have improved enormously over the last decade and in some ways we are only just starting to scratch the surface of what can be achieved.”
An excellent partnerCraig Pyser, co-founder of AMufacture, added: “HP is one of the world leaders in technology and 3-D printing in particular. They have a close association with the sailing world including sponsoring the French
Americas Cup team. We have been the first in the UK to use some of HP’s products, including carrying out beta testing, and they have never been anything less than an excellent partner. We are both looking forward to meeting up with existing and potential customers and showing them the enormous capabilities that 3-D printing now has to improving their supply chain.”
Claudia Galdini, HP’s industrial segment manager, said: “We are very excited to join AMufacture at
Metstrade 2025 to showcase how industrial, production scale additive manufacturing is transforming this industry. AMufacture is a truly precious partner for us here, their expertise and experience are key to driving real impact in marine and underwater innovation.”
Metstrade will run next week from 18–20 November, at the RAI Amsterdam exhibition centre, Netherlands, with AMufacture exhibiting at Stand 07.515. The event comes at a pivotal time for the company, which recently achieved ‘Cyber Essentials Plus’ certification and appointed former Dyson managing director David Hollander as its new chairman.
AMufacture has also secured further investment from private equity firm Maven Capital and Scottish-based co-investor Turner, which has supported ambitious businesses for over a century. The company has increased its manufacturing capacity seven-fold in the past two years and is now targeting further growth both in the UK and internationally.
