Vestas has officially taken over operations at the onshore blades factory in Goleniów, Poland, previously owned by
LM Wind Power. This follows an agreement signed earlier this year and the successful completion of regulatory approvals.
The acquisition strengthens Vestas’ European manufacturing and supply chain capabilities, supporting the continent’s transition to secure, affordable, and sustainable energy. The Goleniów facility, established in 2009 and expanded in 2017, will continue producing blades for Vestas’ onshore wind solutions, including the V172-7.2 MW EnVentus turbine.
Felix Henseler, Vestas’ CTO and COO, emphasised the importance of scaling manufacturing to meet Europe’s energy needs and boost industrial competitiveness. All 400 LM Wind Power employees have been retained, bringing Vestas’ workforce in Poland to nearly 2,000.
Vestas also operates an assembly factory in Szczecin for hubs and nacelles for the V236-15.0MW offshore turbine. Together, these facilities enhance Vestas’ ability to serve both onshore and offshore markets around Europe and further afield.
