Seco has unveiled its next-generation exchangeable tip drill, the X-Tip drill, which is set to redefine holemaking with a smarter and more sustainable approach. Engineered for versatility, speed, and precision, the X-Tip drill simplifies tool management while delivering high-feed performance across all materials and depths.
The new drill eliminates the need for multiple solid carbide drills by combining a single drill body with a range of recyclable carbide tips. This allows users to switch seamlessly between materials and depths, reducing tool clutter, setup time, and overall cost. Its high-feed geometry ensures faster, cleaner holes with less downtime, while the recyclable tips support manufacturers’ sustainability goals.
Ricky Payling, global product manager for solid round tools drilling, said: “With Seco X-Tip drill, we have built a tool that delivers high-feed drilling performance while keeping things flexible and efficient on the shopfloor. The combination of a hardened tool steel body and precision-ground exchangeable carbide tips means you get the rigidity you need with the convenience of quick changeovers — less downtime, more productivity.”
The X-Tip drill is a response to a clear market need for a tool that balances performance, flexibility, and environmental responsibility. Its unique design not only enhances productivity but also aligns with the growing demand for leaner, ‘greener’ manufacturing operations.
