VEV, which helps organisations deliver on their carbon reduction ambitions with an end-to-end fleet electrification solution that integrates across vehicles, charging infrastructure and power, has announced the launch of ScotCharge, a new consortium dedicated to accelerating the decarbonisation of Scotland’s heavy goods vehicle (HGV) sector. Supported by Transport Scotland’s £2 million HGV Market Readiness Fund, VEV is partnering with Fleete and Dynamon to create an investment-ready roadmap for electrifying Scotland’s 36,500-strong HGV fleet.
The consortium brings together the full electrification value chain, combining data analytics, infrastructure deployment and fleet transition expertise. Around 50 stakeholders from Scotland’s transport ecosystem—including fleet operators, manufacturers and network operators—are involved. The initial business case will be delivered in December 2025, with a full report due by March.
Marcelo Soares, vice president of customer and partnerships at VEV, said: “We are excited to be building a robust funding model and investment-ready plan that will kickstart the adoption of electric HGVs and the deployment of critical charging infrastructure across Scotland.”
Amber Jamieson, HGV decarbonisation team leader at Transport Scotland, added: “The HGV Market Readiness Fund is enabling operators, manufacturers, financiers, and charge point providers to collaborate on innovative projects that drive investment in HGV decarbonisation.”
Responsible for 12% of Scotland’s transport emissions, HGV decarbonisation is a key step toward the Government’s net-zero target by 2045. ScotCharge aims to deliver depot electrification, fleet data analysis and hub infrastructure development, creating a scalable model for zero-emission logistics and supporting sustainable economic growth.
