MSC expands MSC Edge to include ISO turning toolsThe engineering sector has been quick to take notice of MSC Edge, a new range of cutting tools developed by MSC Industrial Supply Co. UK(MSC), the leading distributor of cutting tools, safety and industrial consumables.

Since its launch in early 2025 and the introduction of solid carbide hole-making and milling tools, it has rapidly gained market traction and hundreds of customers have already adopted the range. In the first year alone, MSC Edge has been adopted by over 900 engineering firms. Engineers in the industry, have been particularly impressed by the way MSC engineers have developed a range of multi-purpose tools, specifically for them, that not only remain competitively priced but also match or outperform several major established brands. Engineers at MSC are time-served, meaning they know exactly what our customers need which is quality cutting tools from a trusted source at the right price.

Building on this momentum, MSC, has now launched the next major phase of its tooling line to include ISO Turning Tools. Interest in the new phase has accelerated faster than expected, with early orders already being placed. MSC is encouraging businesses not to miss out on the opportunity to join the first wave and is offering free samples of CNMG and DNMG inserts as part of the launch.

The latest addition of MSC Edge ISO Turning Tools covers 82 unique product lines across three grades and supports its ambition to help engineers rationalise their tool inventory. Designed by its engineers for engineers, the range is designed to enable machinists to complete up to 80% of machining operations with just 20% of the tools they would typically require - all at a fair price.

Next-day delivery

Available and in stock for delivery the next working day, the range includes C (80° Rhombic), D (55° Diamond), V (35deg Diamond), W (80deg Trigon), and T (60deg Triangular) shaped carbide inserts. Each shape is available in three grades: PK for steels and cast irons, and MS for stainless steel and super alloys, Additionally, the N grade includes a range of inserts suitable for machining non-ferrous materials and with the capability for finish, medium, and rough machining. While each insert is compatible with other branded toolholders, the new range is also supported by 43 variants of right and left-handed toolholders and internal boring bars.

The MSC Edge ISO inserts benefit from the very latest advances in chip breaker and coating technology. Not only does this ensure the tools can meet the demands of cutting multiple materials, but they can do so while matching the performance of other industry-leading brands.

MSCTo reinforce its commitment to performance, MSC continues to offer its 30-day money-back guarantee for any users who experience premature tool wear when using the range within its recommended parameters. Tom Berrill, head of category management at MSC Industrial Supply Co UK, said: “The launch of our ISO Turning Tools marks the latest stage in our MSC Edge journey and follows an overwhelming demand from the market for a turning application solution.

“We understand that, typically, there have been so many ISO insert options to choose from, that engineers can often end up with more tools than they realistically need. Our ambition is to offer customers a streamlined portfolio of tools that can cover most materials, while delivering a highly competitive cost-per-edge.”

Extensive testing and customer trials have been conducted to ensure its exceptional cost-per-minute value. Matthew Jones, Toolroom Supervisor at Nenplas Ltd, was one of the companies to trial the MSC Edge C-shape ISO insert. He said: “We were very impressed by how it performed compared to our incumbent supplier. It provided a good finish and chip control when cutting brass M303 and was more than capable of handling quicker speeds and feeds when pushed. We were achieving the same level of performance as our previous tool but at a much lower cost.”

The early success of MSC Edge turning tools, demonstrates the continued trust engineers have with MSC. With strong performance, simplified selection and fair pricing, MSC Edge is increasingly becoming a preferred choice for engineering businesses seeking both value and reliability.
