NCMT will be exhibiting the Okuma Multus U3000 2SW 1500 at
MACH 2026, which takes place 20-24 April at the NEC, Birmingham (Hall 19, Stand 130). This highly versatile multi-tasking machine is designed to significantly reduce lead times through part consolidation. The machine will be seen running live demonstrations on the stand and NCMT team members will be on hand to answer any questions.
The Multus U3000 combines full five-axis milling capability with high-performance turning, allowing complex components to be completed in a single set-up. The machine is equipped with twin spindles (2SW) and a lower turret, enabling simultaneous machining operations and significantly improved throughput.
Maximum turning diameter is approximately 650mm, with a maximum machining length of 1,500mm, making the platform suitable for a wide range of aerospace, energy, automotive and precision engineering applications. Both main and sub-spindles deliver high torque and speed stability, supporting heavy roughing as well as fine finishing.
chatter-free cuttingThe milling spindle features a B axis with ±120deg of rotation, allowing complex angled features to be machined without re-clamping. High rigidity across all axes ensures chatter-free cutting, even during demanding five-axis simultaneous operations.

At the heart of the Multus U3000 is Okuma’s ‘thermo-friendly concept’, which minimises thermal deformation through intelligent structural design and temperature compensation. This ensures consistent accuracy from cold start through too long, unattended production runs. The machine is driven by the OSP-P500 CNC control, offering fast processing speeds, advanced collision avoidance and intuitive conversational programming. Okuma’s integrated Collision Avoidance System (CAS) provides real-time monitoring of machine movements, protecting both tooling and the machine itself.
Tool capacity is generous, with automatic tool changers supporting large tool inventories to accommodate complex components and mixed production schedules. High-pressure coolant delivery and effective chip management systems maintain process stability and surface integrity.
Designed with automation in mind, the Multus U3000 can be seamlessly integrated with robotic loading, bar feed systems and peripheral equipment, supporting lights-out manufacturing strategies.
