UltiMaker becomes Tectonic-3D’s US distributor

UltiMaker becomes Tectonic-3D’s US distributor UltiMaker has been named the exclusive distributor for Tectonic-3D across North and South America, a move that significantly broadens its high‑performance materials offering for defence, industrial and critical infrastructure applications.

The agreement formalises a long‑standing technical relationship between the two companies and supports Tectonic‑3D’s expansion into defence, oil and gas, industrial repair and medical markets. UltiMaker will now distribute Tectonic‑3D’s full filament portfolio, strengthening its position as a supplier of production‑ready additive manufacturing (AM) solutions for demanding end‑use environments.

Tectonic‑3D has differentiated itself by focusing on advanced polymer engineering rather than conventional filament manufacturing. Its materials are designed at a molecular level to meet performance thresholds that standard additive materials often fail to achieve, particularly in applications requiring high-temperature resistance, flame retardancy, stiffness or regulatory compliance.

The company’s portfolio spans carbon fibre‑reinforced, bio‑based, flame‑retardant and biocompatible polymers aimed at aerospace, defence, energy, automotive and medical end parts. The new distributorship builds on previous collaboration between the two companies, particularly within defence applications. UltiMaker and Tectonic‑3D have worked together to develop material profiles that enable Tectonic‑3D filaments to be used reliably on UltiMaker platforms in regulated and mission‑critical environments.

UltiMaker currently supports ten dedicated Tectonic‑3D print profiles through the UltiMaker Marketplace. These profiles are optimised for the UltiMaker S Series and Factor Series systems and are designed to deliver consistent, industrial‑grade results with minimal setup. The pre‑configured parameters allow users to take full advantage of carbon fibre‑reinforced and flame‑retardant materials straight out of the box, reducing qualification time and lowering barriers to adoption.

Seamless integration

Jim Franz, president of the Americas at UltiMaker, said: “Tectonic‑3D’s commitment to advanced material innovation perfectly complements our mission to provide a reliable, industrial‑grade production platform. By becoming the exclusive US distributor, we are giving our customers direct access to the most advanced filaments on the market, backed by the seamless integration and support they expect from UltiMaker.”

Under the agreement, UltiMaker will carry the full Tectonic‑3D range, including the KRATIR series of carbon fibre and glass fibre‑reinforced PET, PA and PP materials developed for high stiffness and heat resistance. The portfolio also includes the ZEPHYR series of bio‑based, ultra‑lightweight structural materials designed for drone and aerial applications, and the VULCAN series of high‑temperature, flame‑retardant polymers such as PEI (Ultem), PEKK and PPSU for extreme operating conditions. Medical and ergonomic use cases are addressed through the ANASA series, which includes biocompatible and flexible TPC materials.

For Tectonic‑3D, the partnership provides a direct route to market through an established hardware and software ecosystem, while maintaining close technical alignment with 3-D printer development. Ken Kempinski, CEO and co‑founder of Tectonic‑3D, added: “We look forward to building upon our partnership with UltiMaker. Our materials are designed to push the boundaries of what is possible in AM. We are extremely excited to expand our collaborations with UltiMaker on their S and Factor series 3-D printers.”

The agreement reflects a broader trend within industrial AM towards vertically integrated material and platform strategies, particularly in sectors where qualification, repeatability and performance are critical. By combining advanced polymer formulations with validated print profiles and global distribution, UltiMaker and Tectonic‑3D are positioning themselves to address production and repair applications that have traditionally remained out of reach for polymer‑based 3-D printing.
