Morgan Motor Co Ltd recently unveiled the company’s Supersport 400, a new ‘flagship model’ that is the most powerful production Morgan to date. Built on the CXV-Generation bonded-aluminium platform and powered by the latest BMW B58 ‘O1’ inline six-cylinder turbocharged engine paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, the car has an output of 402bhp and is the first production Morgan to exceed 400bhp.
Matthew Hole, Morgan Motor Co’s managing director, said: “Supersport 400 is the purest expression of Supersport, signalling a natural progression for the range and allowing us to unlock greater possibilities from the CXV platform, all while remaining true to morgan’s core principles of creating beautiful and engaging lightweight sports cars.
“From the outset, our aim has been to create a vehicle that is sharper and more deliberate, ensuring the additional power is delivered in a way that feels balanced, intuitive and deeply rewarding for the driver. At the same time, a subtle design evolution gives Supersport 400 a more distinct and purposeful character.
“We are immensely proud of Supersport 400. It stands at the pinnacle of our range, reflects the progress we are making as a business, and demonstrates how we can evolve our platform to increase capability in a way that remains distinctly Morgan — defined by handcrafted construction, human engagement in the driving experience and a commitment to delivering pure driving joy.
“As with every Morgan, each Supersport 400 is coach-built at Pickersleigh Road and commissioned as an individual expression of its owner. No two commissions are the same, with every choice shaped around personal taste and intended use. The introduction of Supersport 400 also signals continued momentum for Morgan, with a broader programme of bespoke and limited-run collections planned over the next 18 months. This growth is supported by ongoing investment in engineering, manufacturing and future model programmes at the company’s Malvern headquarters.”
