AM Solutions launches compact S1 Basic post-processing system

AM Solutions launches compact S1 Basic post-processing system AM Solutions has expanded its automated post-processing portfolio with the launch of the S1 Basic, a compact entry-level system designed for the cleaning and surface finishing of additively manufactured polymer parts.

The machine, now commercially available, has been developed for industrial users handling individual components and small-batch production, the system is also aimed at research, laboratory and pilot production environments seeking a cost-effective route into automated post-processing.

Growing adoption of polymer additive manufacturing technologies is increasing demand for reproducible, standardised and efficient post-processing solutions. According to AM Solutions, manual finishing processes are increasingly struggling to meet requirements for consistency, productivity and part quality, particularly when handling smaller components.

David Soldan, head of AM Solutions, said: “With the S1 Basic, AM Solutions expands its S1 family with a system designed to provide a cost-efficient and standardised entry into the automated post-processing of additively manufactured parts. The S1 remains the solution for more demanding industrial applications requiring an extended range of functions and performance capabilities.”

The S1 Basic has been developed primarily for parts produced using Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), Multi Jet Fusion (MJF), High Speed Sintering (HSS) and Selective Absorption Fusion (SAF) technologies, although it can also process polymer components manufactured using other 3D printing methods.

The system incorporates AM Solutions’ 2-in-1 process, combining cleaning and surface finishing within a single machine using one type of blasting media. This approach reduces floor space requirements while simplifying workflows and lowering processing costs.

Parts measuring up to 100 x 100 x 100mm can be processed automatically, while larger components up to 350 x 200 x 200mm can be handled manually. Integrated blasting media recirculation and powder separation systems help maintain process stability, reduce media consumption and minimise operator intervention.

Designed for flexible installation, the machine features a Siemens S7-1200 control system with colour HMI, recipe storage, front-access maintenance and wall-adjacent placement capability. With noise levels below 75 dB(A), it is suitable for use in production-related environments.
