Stockport-based Noon Machinery Services (
www.noonmachine.com) has been appointed sole distributor for Ajax Machine Tools International in the North East and North West (including North Wales).
As part of this arrangement, managing director Terry Noon is upgrading his premises and creating a dedicated showroom and demonstration area. This will initially house an AJCBM 720 bed mill, an Evolution AJEV CNC lathe with touch-screen control and an AJT 200 turret mill.
Mr Noon says: “The relationship with Ajax developed through its inclusion of Heidenhain and Fanuc controls on machines that we needed to fit out a training college. In our view, these controls were important for the college to be able to show students systems and programming routines that are accepted by industry.”
William Savin, managing director of Hampshire-based Ajax (
www.ajax-mach.co.uk), says: “This is a strategic step in our company growth plans. Having a sole agent in Stockport takes Ajax back to its roots in 1979, when it had a purpose-built facility in Bredbury.
"From there, an extensive customer base was established across the North of England.” It was important to Mr Savin that Noon Machinery Services could provide a full installation package, including on-site machine alignment and laser calibration.
