#MACH2018 Nottingham-based Vollmer UK Ltd (
www.vollmer-group.com) will be giving an exhibition debut to two machines for processing saw blades and cutting tools: the Loroch Evolution K850-M and Vgrind 360 (Hall 20 Stand 160).
Incorporating a 19in touch-screen CNC system that is comparable to a smartphone configuration, the Loroch Evolution K850-M allows blades to be programmed in minutes. Suitable for processing HSS, solid-carbide and ‘friction’ saw blades, the machine has a direct-drive grinding-wheel configuration, which reduces power loss and eliminates vibrations that can impact blade quality.
With eight CNC axes, the machine can undertake the automatic processing of saw blades from 130 to 520mm in diameter in random order; manual loading allows blades up to 850mm in diameter to be processed.
To achieve automated operation with differing bore sizes, bore-reducing rings can be used to create a common bore diameter; just one clamping flange is required for the full range of blades.
The Vgrind 360, for the manufacture of carbide drills and milling cutters, features two vertically arranged spindles and five ‘harmonised’ CNC axes that achieve interpolation with short travel distances for both the linear axes and swivel ranges.
Capable of processing cutting tools up to 200mm in diameter, this machine has a number of automation options for ‘lights out’ production; these will be demonstrated at the show.
