PSL Datatrack celebrates 30 years

PSL Datatrack celebrates 30 yearsBracknell-based PSL Datatrack is celebrating 30 years of developing production control software for precision-engineering sub-contractors (www.psldatatrack.com).

The venture started in February 1988 when Prospec Systems, the company behind the software, introduced a solution that offered a practical, simple and logical way to manage production and improve overall business efficiency.

The focus was on the specific controls and reporting that are required to manage the production of turned parts, machined components and any product requiring a manufacturing process; these controls included those for scheduling, shopfloor data collection, gauge calibration, non conformance and tooling.

The software has been continuously developed, and todays PSL Datatrack customers range from one-man-band concerns to to companies with 100-plus employees.

Some specialise in turning and milling, while others offer a range of other processes including grinding, EDM, 3-D printing, finishing, fabrication and other services.

Managing director Geoff Gartland says the longevity of the company is down to knowing its customers well and fully understanding their changing production needs.

“This is borne out by the number of long-standing customers that PSL Datatrack has acquired over the years and continues to support.

“Our continuous R&D programme, together with customer feedback, help us to provide the upgrades and additions to the functionality of PSL Datatrack that our customers will benefit from.”
