RSSB and University of Birmingham to host WCRRRSSB (Rail Safety and Standards Board) and the University of Birmingham have confirmed that they will jointly host the next World Congress on Railway Research (WCRR) on behalf of the UK rail industry.

This event will take place 6-10 June 2022 at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham — the UK’s second largest city.

Bringing together industry leaders and researchers, WCRR is a forum for the global railway research community to share the latest research, innovations and solutions across different topics.

Hosted every three years by a different nation, the congress has a mission to promote the benefits of railway research, world-wide collaboration and the sharing of technical knowledge.

Luisa Moisio, R&D programme director at RSSB (www.rssb.co.uk), said: “With the level of activity and development of the British network underway in terms of infrastructure projects, R&D programmes and activities to meet key ambitious targets, our rail landscape is in the midst of an exciting and crucial shift, with innovation at its core.

“This is why RSSB and the University of Birmingham — with the backing of the UK Government and the City of Birmingham — will be welcoming the global rail community to Birmingham for the 13th WCRR in 2022.”
