ETG expands turning range with Vulcan TC200Following the recent launch of the new Vulcan machine tool range, the Engineering Technology Group (ETG) has announced the arrival of the new TC200 turning centre. As part of the already popular TC Series, the TC200 is the smallest and most compact machine in the range and comes with a 200mm diameter chuck capability.

Developed to increase speed and precision, the TC200 is a single spindle and single turret lathe with a 45° slant bed construction to ensure maximum stability whil ensuring swarf is effectively removed from the work envelope.

As a result, users can maximise the heavy-duty cutting potential of the machine while undertaking uninterrupted batch or series production.

The TC200 is available in four variants to meet the complete needs of small component turning operations. The base model TC200 has a swing over bed of 460mm, a maximum turning diameter of 280mm, a spindle speed range of 25 to 4,200rev/min and a spindle bore of 61mm diameter; when combined with the ETG bar feeding solutions it can deliver a cost-effective production cell.

All this is packed into an impressive footprint of just 2.44 x 1.6m, and with a hefty overall weight of 4,500kg, the robust build quality is assured.

For manufacturers looking to reduce secondary operations, ETG can supply the TC200M variant which provides the opportunity for live tooling stations on the turret. With a servo turret providing powerful high-torque live tooling speeds from 25 to 4,000rev/min, the TC200M can significantly drive-down cycle times.

Meanwhile, the TC200 is available with an ‘L’ variant, the TC200L – this is designated as the long bed version that extends Z-axis travel from the standard 490 to 740mm. With the facility to completely configure the machine to the requirements of the end-user, ETG is offering the TC200 Series in four variants – the TC200, TC200L, TC200M and the TC200ML with a longer bed and live tooling.

Every machine in this series is equipped with direct drive servo motors for smooth and rapid traverse movements of 30m/min in X and Z axes, which is complemented by a high-precision, high-speed spindle motor that maximises the machining performance.

As standard, the TC200 Series is supplied with a three-bar coolant pump, 130-litre capacity coolant tank, eight-position hydraulic tooling turret, automatic lubrication system, tool kit, work light, three-colour beacon light, heat exchanger for electrical cabinet, chip conveyor, programmable tailstock, automatic part catcher and automatic tool probing.

ETG managing director Martin Doyle said: “To enter the market segment where customers purchase machines at a particular price point, we wanted to ensure that we have the utmost in quality with a high-specification machine construction. With the TC Series, we can meet our core competence of ETG-assured quality and performance at a price that will appeal to every machine shop.”
