The bankruptcy of Peter Drösser GmbH, a well-known name in the German manufacturing industry, was not generally foreseen, as the family business was one of Germany’s larger steel traders/processors and supplied steel and semi-finished products to various industries — including automotive. Following the company’s demise, its assets — including a number of ‘young’ metalworking machines from Trumpf — are now coming on the market through
Assets for Sale.
Five years ago, Peter Drösser GmbH moved from Köln-Mülheim to a new location in nearby Loope, giving the capacity needed to further develop from a steel trader to a provider of ‘total steel solutions’. The company’s move and growth plans saw it invest in high-quality plate- and tube-processing technology from Trumpf. Indeed, just last year (2023), a new Trumpf TruArc Weld 1000 robotised welding cell was installed for series work and operating partially unmanned.
A year earlier, in 2022, the German steel shop commissioned a new TruLaser Tube 7000 from Trumpf for laser cutting large pipes and profiles. This machine has a 6kW laser and can cut complex geometries in both tube (up to 254mm in diameter with wall thicknesses up to 10mm) and rectangular profiles (up to a maximum side length of 220mm). The associated LoadMaster Tube 6.5 automatically loads tube lengths up to 6500mm into the machine.
In 2021, Peter Drösser GmbH installed a TruLaser 3030 L81 laser cutting machine featuring a TruDisk 10001 disk laser. The company has also invested heavily in automation for the new plant, including a STOPA FAB-180219 pallet system with 740 pallet locations; and with each pallet offering a capacity of 2,000 x 4,000mm and a maximum load weight 3,000kg per pallet, the system offers a total storage capacity of 2,220 tonnes of sheet metal. The system, which was installed in 2018, also incorporates a VOMA 18-519 order picker, a VOMA vacuum lifter, and several FROMM stacking tables.
Yves Ensing, business development manager at Assets for Sale (part of the Dutch
www.pipm.eu PIPM Group), which will be marketing the assets originating from the former Peter Drösser GmbH, said: “We are talking about several high-quality Trumpf machines with few running hours. Moreover, they were running until the last moment and have been well maintained.
“In addition to Trumpf’s TruLaser 3030, Trulaser 3040, TruLaser Tube 7000 and TruArc Weld 1000, a Trumpf MultiCut 06-40 metal shearer, a Trumpf TruBend 5230 press brake and other equipment will be available. All machines are for sale immediately.”
