Franklin Precision Castings has invested in a new DN Solutions HC 400 II horizontal machining centre (HMC) for its factory in Franklin, Pennsylvania. The machine represents the first HMC at Franklin’s in-house machine shop, expanding the company’s capacity to handle a wider range of part sizes and quantities, boosting production efficiency and enabling quicker delivery times.
The HC 400 II HMC is a high-precision compact machining centre equipped with an expandable capacity of 40 tools and 7,500rev/min spindle. It offers a larger capacity, both in part size and quantity, and dual pallets that allow for simultaneous loading and cutting. These features enable components to be finished without secondary operations in another machine. DN Solutions machines are available in the UK and Ireland from
Mills CNC.
Rick Wolbert, Franklin’s machine shop manager, said: “We are excited to expand and strengthen our capabilities with the addition of the DN Solutions HC 400 II. The dual pallets allow us to load the machine while its cutting – reducing our lead times to customers.”
Initially acquired for defence applications, the machine will support many industrial sectors including glass, food processing, oil and gas, pumps and valves, and specialised hardware. This is the fifth DN Solutions machining centre and the fourth machine supplied and installed by Pennsylvania-based
Allegheny Machine Tool Systems.
