Hannover Messe drives the energy transition in manufacturingAs the global flagship event for the manufacturing sector, Hannover Messe continues to underscore the critical role of energy systems in industrial environments. The fair brings together key players from industry, energy, and politics to explore strategies for a secure, climate-neutral, and competitive energy supply.

From 20-24 April 2026, manufacturers visiting Hannover will discover how resilient energy technologies can boost efficiency, cut costs, and safeguard supply chains. In Halls 11 to 13, the ‘Energy & Industrial Infrastructure’ area will showcase electrified and sustainable energy solutions tailored for manufacturing. These technologies, increasingly integrated with artificial intelligence (AI), are driving innovation in smart grids, energy storage, and mobility systems.

The exhibition will be structured around three core clusters: ‘Power Engineering & Energy Automation’, ‘Energy Infrastructure & Storage Solutions’, and ‘Hydrogen Technologies’. Among the exhibitors are Altech Batteries, the European Commission, Helukabel, Horiba, Karlsruhe Institute for Technology (KIT), Lapp, PC Vue, RWE Generation, Salzgitter, Schneider Electric, SFC Energy, Siemens, TÜV Nord, and several Fraunhofer Institutes. Brazil will be the partner country in 2026.

Visitors will gain insights into both current energy challenges and future-oriented systems, with adjacent themes such as Industrial Internet of Things, cloud computing, and IT security offering further context for energy innovation.

Basilios Triantafillos, global director trade fair and product management at Hannover Messe, said: “Sustainable energy in manufacturing is only possible through a combination of technology, infrastructure and innovation. We present these solutions bundled in the ‘Energy & Industrial Infrastructure’ area, which highlights how manufacturers can make their production processes efficient, flexible and low emission. AI plays an increasingly important role here, because it helps cushion peak loads, control processes intelligently and ensure grid stability.”

The focus

In the ‘Power Engineering & Energy Automation’ cluster, exhibitors will present automation systems, switching and distribution technologies, digital twins, and AI-driven control solutions. The focus is on how traditional energy systems can be transformed through Industry 4.0 principles to deliver smarter, ‘greener’, and more adaptable energy infrastructures.

The ‘Energy Infrastructure & Storage Solutions’ cluster will highlight the importance of robust grids, digital grid services, and both stationary and mobile storage systems, including batteries and thermal technologies. Exhibitors will demonstrate how renewable energy sources, intelligent load management, and advanced storage can be combined to maintain reliable supply and support electromobility.

Hydrogen will take centre stage in the ‘Hydrogen Technologies’ cluster, where exhibitors will show how hydrogen can be directly integrated into industrial processes. Practical examples will range from process heat applications in chemical and steel production to modular hydrogen systems for factory use. Around 300 companies will present hydrogen-related products and services, illustrating the vast potential of hydrogen in industrial settings.

The dedicated ‘Hydrogen + Fuel Cells Europe’ display will serve as the main hub for hydrogen topics at the fair. It will focus on decarbonisation strategies, infrastructure development, and industrial applications. The area will be supported by networking events, a forum, and master classes, offering visitors direct access to manufacturers, research institutions, and international partners.

Hannover Messe remains the premier platform for industrial innovation. With over 4,000 exhibitors from electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, digital technology, and energy sectors, the fair presents solutions for a competitive and sustainable future. Key exhibition areas include Automation & Digitalization, Energy & Industrial Infrastructure, and Research & Technology Transfer. Artificial intelligence (AI) will be a cross-cutting theme throughout the event. A comprehensive conference programme will complement the exhibition.
