Valmet has secured an order to supply automation systems for two hydropower plants, which are under construction for Daklo 1‑3 Power Company Ltd in Kon Plong Ward, Quang Ngai Province, Vietnam. The deal was placed through Industries Equipment and Solution Company Ltd (IESC), Valmet’s local partner, which is delivering the systems under contract with the EPC contractor. The automation package will oversee all key hydropower processes, supporting safe, stable, and efficient operation while also helping optimise water use and overall energy performance.
Nguyen Viet Cuong, IESC’s deputy director, said: “We chose Valmet because of its strong reputation and proven expertise in automation for hydropower projects. The solution ensures long‑term reliability and efficiency through robust performance, complemented by competitive pricing. Valmet’s local lifecycle support and collaborative approach with our EPC partner gave us confidence in a successful implementation.”
Huynh Quang Tuyen, Valmet sales manager (automation solutions business area), said: “We are proud to deliver Valmet’s distributed control systems (DCS) for the Daklo hydropower plants. This project demonstrates our commitment to Vietnam’s renewable energy sector, particularly hydropower, by providing advanced automation solutions and strong local partnerships. Through close collaboration, we ensure long‑term lifecycle support and operational excellence for the customer.”
The Daklo 1 and Daklo 3 plants, rated at 12MW and 22MW respectively, are being developed as run‑of‑river facilities to supply clean electricity to the national grid and strengthen regional energy security. Their design focuses on efficient water resource utilisation, supported by modern hydropower infrastructure. Both plants are scheduled to enter commercial operation in the spring of 2027. The order will be booked in Valmet’s fourth‑quarter 2025 figures. Handover of the supplied systems is planned for late 2026 for Daklo 1 and spring 2027 for Daklo 3. The order value has not been disclosed.
