MACH MT raises the bar with new CNC slant bed lathesBristol-based MACH Machine Tools, part of the Vigilance Group, and a leading CNC and manual machine tool and workshop equipment supplier to UK, Irish, European and US-based component manufacturers and toolmakers, as well as a growing number of educational organisations, has recently added a new range of 8in chuck CNC slant bed lathes with DynaPath controls to its line-up.

The MACH MDSL series, comprising two models – the two-axis MDSL-202 and the multi-tasking three-axis MDSL-203M equipped with driven tooling capabilities, provide customers with exceptional cutting performance, fast processing speeds, high precision, machining flexibility and unmatched reliability.

Both machines have a rigid design and construction and are equipped with infinitely variable 3,500rev/min spindles, bi-directional 12-station turrets that deliver fast tool selection and MT4 tailstocks (370mm travel) for the machining of longer workpieces. They also boast maximum turning lengths of 500mm and maximum turning diameters of 160mm, with 575mm distance between centres and 30m/min rapids on their X and Z axes. The MACH MDSL 203-M comes supplied with a C axis and 4,000rev/min driven tooling.

Moreover, the MDSL range features the advanced and proven DynaPath control integrated with MACH Machine Tools’ industry-leading free, 24/7, Wi-Fi enabled ‘Remote Assist’ facility that provides customers with expert remote applications and service support, including free software updates, for the life of the machine.

Dave Andrew, Vigilance’s managing director, said: “MACH’s ‘Remote Assist’ is truly groundbreaking and provides customers with service and support that cannot be beaten anywhere — or by anyone. Remote Assist’s advantages, like the 20min maximum time we guarantee to respond to customers’ queries, means that machine downtime can be kept to an absolute minimum.”

In addition, Both machines are powered by the popular and proven DynaPath control system which, among its many strengths, includes: conversational and ISO/G code programming capabilities which makes it easy to program machines on the shopfloor; 64Gb on-board storage and 10,000 block look-ahead capability that ensure fast processing speeds resulting in improved accuracies and surface finishes; functions such as datum setting using alignment, sub-program calling, the use of macro-programming, the ability to facilitate program simulation using tool path or 3-D rendered graphics, a programmable spindle control along with the provision of DXF and Onboard DXF editor, plus a multitude of communication methods, including Wi-Fi connectivity.

As with all MACH machines, the MDSL lathes come with a number of technology features as standard, including: linear guideways; a set of hard and soft jaws; four-times boring tool holders and sleeves; four turning tool holders; turret wedges; revolving MT-4 centre; high-pressure coolant; and centralised automatic lubrication systems.
