Seco has introduced Jetstream Tooling M-Clamp toolholders for large inserts, featuring targeted high-pressure coolant delivery, double clamping security, and innovative 3-D printed clamps. Designed for demanding machining, the high-pressure coolant through the JETI M-Clamp system delivers longer tool life, superior chip control, and smoother finishes even in tough materials.
By integrating high-pressure coolant directly through a 3-D printed clamp and a secondary DUO JET outlet, the M-Clamp toolholder system ensures optimal temperature control at the cutting zone. This targeted approach extends tool life by at least 30%, improves chip control, and delivers superior surface finishes, even when working with stainless steel and super-alloys.
The robust, additively manufactured (AM) clamp is positioned at a safe distance from the cutting edge, maximising security and resisting chip hammering which is a common cause of clamp wear and instability. This means fewer replacements, less downtime, and a more consistent machining process.
Double clamping securityFor the first time, double clamping security is available for both negative and round positive inserts. The addition of a centre-lock screw together with the top clamp ensures improved stability and rotational security, reducing insert movement and boosting reliability in challenging conditions.
Efficiency is further enhanced by the JETI M-Clamp’s twist function and shared key slot design, allowing for faster insert changes and easier indexing, minimising downtime and maximising productivity. Customisation is also at the forefront: thanks to 3-D printing, AM clamps can be tailored to meet unique machining requirements, offering flexibility that traditional clamps cannot match.
Fredrik Samuelsson, global product manager ISO toolholders at Seco, said: “Our goal with the Jetstream Tooling M-Clamp was to solve the real challenges machinists face, such as unreliable coolant delivery, clamp wear, and time-consuming insert changes, and we achieved it.”
